A Mission Rooted in Compassion

Vincentian was founded in Pittsburgh in 1924 with a simple purpose: to care for those who could not care for themselves. Nearly 100 years later, these nonprofit, mission-based roots continue to define Vincentian. Dedicated to meeting unmet needs in our communities and being an employer of choice by the caregivers, Vincentian’s top priority – and passion – is people. We “Share Everything, Keep Nothing” because it’s what we’ve always done. Every day, for nearly 100 years.

We Can't Do It Alone

We invite you to join us in supporting Vincentian's ongoing mission of compassionate care, inspired by the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. Since 1902, our organization has grown from humble beginnings to serve over 1,600 people annually in Western Pennsylvania. Your generous donations will help us continue our vital work in senior care, senior living, and childcare ministries.

A Century of Nonprofit Compassionate Care

Since our humble beginnings in 1924, Vincentian has touched countless lives serving generations of Pittsburghers. It has been our honor to compassionately care for your family, friends, and neighbors when they needed us most. As we commemorate our heritage this centennial year, we need your support more than ever to continue our vital mission for our community.

A Legacy of Compassionate Service

The idea to create a Home for the Incurables was conceived long before Vincentian began. Since the early 20th century, the Sisters have risen time and again to meet unmet community needs, humbly serving God and their fellow human beings.

Sustaining Our Mission Together

Despite numerous challenges, Vincentian has remained steadfast in its commitment to serve others. Organizations like ours have faced unmitigable cost increases, staffing shortages, and delayed reimbursements, all while continuing to provide essential care.

International Day

Why It Matters

Vincentian has undergone many months of diligent analysis to fully document and determine the extent of financial harm endured while continuing to provide essential services. This financial harm is clear in the graphic below, which illustrates the net cash flow of Vincentian prior to and then transcending through the height of the pandemic.

A Community Built on Generosity

We gather here now to commemorate that day, 100 years ago to the day, that Vincentian Home was first dedicated. The community that has emerged since May 4, 1924, has been built with the blood, sweat, tears, hearts, hands, and minds of the Sisters who came before us and the lay helpers who assisted them.
