Giving to Vincentian means giving to a 100-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable in our Pittsburgh community. Since our Sisters opened the doors of the Holy Rosary Cottage at what is now Vincentian Home in 1924, Vincentian has embraced a “share everything; keep nothing” philosophy, running to the needs of others as our namesake St. Vincent taught, to “do what is before you.”
Nearly all donations received today go immediately to support the care of vulnerable older adults requiring long-term skilled nursing care. Vincentian delivers the same quality care to each person regardless of financial compensation because it’s the right thing to do; however, in recent years it comes at a near-debilitating price. Since 2020, Vincentian has delivered $11 million of uncompensated care each year, depleting decades of precious reserve funds to care for people who needed care today. This uncompensated care – the cost difference between what Vincentian receives as payment and the actual cost Vincentian incurs to deliver quality care – breaks down to $20 each minute over the course of an entire year.
Beyond clinical care, Vincentian is committed to caring for the whole person and their individual needs and preferences, to provide quality of life no matter where a resident may be in their life’s journey. A wide variety of individual and group programs, activities, outings, education, and spiritual enrichment are offered to residents and families. Your donations go to support these holistic wellness offerings, to directly make a positive impact on an older adult’s day or make a new family memory that lasts a lifetime.
