Innovation in Action

Vincentian wants to offer a big “Thank You”  to our facilities teams, working groups and everyone who has been involved in a number of renovations across our system. These important projects will help better position each of our Homes in increasingly competitive markets and will provide tangible quality of life improvements for the residents we serve. Here is an overview of the exciting change going on right now at Vincentian:

At Vincentian Marian Manor, we’ve completely renovated the A1 community and are poised to re-open it as affordable personal care next month. New flooring, painting, furniture and other enhancements have transformed A1. Major improvements to the community space in the A lobby are planned in the coming weeks. On B1, the resident dining room and kitchen recently received all new flooring, lighting, cabinetry and painting. We’ve also given the beauty shop at Marian Manor a “face lift” with a new workstation, equipment, paint and flooring. Later this year, we will turn our attention to the C building, where lobby improvements and other renovations are planned.

At Vincentian Home, residents now have a beautiful new library and resource center thanks to donations from Rocking for Residents. Vincentian Home Personal Care renovations are also ongoing, with updates to painting, flooring and the “grand staircase” area spanning the first and second floor. Additionally, updates to the old Heritage Wing were made to prepare for Vincentian de Marillac residents. Once the residents return to VdM, more renovations to these areas are planned. We’re also looking at improvements to the Wander Garden to expand access for even more residents and their guests.

Speaking of Vincentian de Marillac, perhaps the most transformative change has happened here. The elevator, which was original to the building’s construction in the 1960s, has been replaced. This massive project required residents to temporarily relocate to Vincentian Home and Vincentian Marian Manor. While the building was empty, additional renovations including new flooring, new lighting, ceiling and other enhancements were made. These improvements were made possible through a lot of hard work and a $200,000 Allegheny County CITF Grant. Looking ahead, we plan to totally rehab the side porch so residents are again able to enjoy this part of the VdM campus.

Thank you again to everyone who has been involved – and will continue to be involved – in these vital projects. If you have any questions about these or other initiatives, do not hesitate to e-mail me directly.
