Care for the Caregiver 2020
Why Donations Are Needed
Vincentian Collaborative System has been caring for Pittsburghers since 1924 and is now asking Pittsburghers to help us show support to our healthcare heroes.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has impacted everyone’s daily life, but nowhere is that more apparent than in our long-term care facilities where elderly residents, with the highest risk of infection, are receiving round-the-clock care from dedicated caregivers. Taking on extra shifts and additional time away from their own families, the 700 healthcare heroes across the Vincentian system are there to hold a hand and spend time with someone whose family cannot visit for fear of spreading the contagion.
While we can never fully express our gratitude to those who are on the front lines of this pandemic, the Care for the Caregiver campaign has been created to help alleviate the stresses to nursing, housekeeping, dietary, maintenance, activity, and social service staff who are giving so much to others in these difficult times.
Did you know that the CARES Act provides incentives for charitable contributions? When you support the Care for the Caregivers campaign, you can take a charitable deduction of up to $300 for your donation, even if you do not itemize on your tax returns. Donors who do itemize can deduct up to 100% of their adjusted gross income for all charitable contributions made.
How You Can Help
Become a Vincentian Champion and help fundraise for the caregivers by creating your own personal fundraising page
- Provide food security or transportation with a gift that can be used for caregiver meals, groceries, or gasoline.
- Every caregiver’s greatest fear is that they will transmit the virus from their work to their family or vice versa. Your gift can provide professional uniform laundry service or additional protective wear.
- Your contribution can give our caregivers an extra day off – as a well-deserved break to recharge and be with their family.
